You can start before you know the system

Thinking you might need some help at home? Start with a conversation.

You do not need a My Aged Care number, a folder of paperwork or the right service name before you contact us. Tell us what is becoming harder, what you want life at home to keep looking like, and where you live. We can help make the first step clearer.

No jargon required. Plain language is perfect.

The goal is not to learn an aged-care system. It is to keep more of the life that matters to you.
Start with everyday life

You are allowed to describe the problem before you know the service name.

Most people do not wake up knowing which aged-care program or service category they need. They notice that something at home is taking more effort, a family member is doing more, or an ordinary routine is becoming harder to manage.

1

What is becoming harder?

Maybe cleaning takes too much out of you, showering feels less steady, the garden is getting away from you, or getting to appointments is becoming difficult.

2

What do you want to keep doing?

Staying at home, seeing friends, cooking familiar meals, getting out to appointments, looking after the garden, or simply keeping your normal routine.

3

Then we work out the next question.

We can explain the usual My Aged Care first steps and help you think about what is worth mentioning when you contact them.

You do not need to diagnose your own care needs. Tell us what life looks like now. We can help you put ordinary experiences into useful questions for the next conversation.
A simple first conversation

We can help you understand the road ahead without pretending to control it.

1

Tell us what you have noticed

Start with everyday things: what feels harder, what takes longer, what worries you, or where family members are stepping in more often.

2

We explain the usual first steps

We can talk through the general role of My Aged Care and help make the process feel less unfamiliar before you contact them.

3

You prepare in your own words

We can help you think about the routines, difficulties and goals that may be useful to mention. There is no need to sound clinical or use perfect terminology.

4

We agree on a useful next contact

If the process takes time, we can agree together on when it would actually be useful to talk again rather than filling your week with unnecessary follow-up calls.

Who does what?

We can help you prepare. My Aged Care makes the government assessment and eligibility decisions.

Acclyptic cannot approve funding or decide eligibility. Our role at this early stage is much more practical: listen, explain the general process in plain language and help you get ready for the right conversation.

That distinction matters because we do not want to promise something that is not ours to decide. We would rather be useful, clear and available while you work through the process.

Things we can help you think about

  • What has changed at home recently.
  • What you are still comfortable doing yourself.
  • What you would like some help with.
  • What matters most about staying independent.
  • Whether a family member or supporter should be part of the conversation.
  • Questions you want to remember to ask.
Start with the basics

You do not need to have it all worked out. That is why we are here.

Your name, a way to reach you and your suburb or postcode are enough to get the conversation started. Everything else can wait until you are ready to talk.

What happens after you send this

One of our team will read your enquiry and contact you so you can explain what is happening in your own words. We can then help make the next practical step a little clearer.

If talking is easier, please call. You do not need to fill in the form first.

If you would like, tell us a little more. You do not need to understand My Aged Care or know which service to ask for. The extra details below simply help us make the first conversation more useful.

Before you contact us

A few common questions.

You do not have to learn the system before you ask for help understanding it.

I do not know what service I need. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Start with what is becoming harder, tiring, less safe or more difficult to organise. You do not need to know the name of a service before you talk to us.

Can Acclyptic decide whether I am eligible for aged-care funding?

No. My Aged Care handles registration, assessment and government eligibility or funding decisions. What we can do is explain the usual first steps in plain language, help you prepare for that conversation and stay useful while you work through the process.

Can I contact you if I am helping a parent, partner or family member?

Yes. Families often help someone take the first step. Tell us who you are helping and what you have noticed. We can talk through the general process with you and work out what may be useful to do next.

Will you keep calling me while I am waiting?

We would rather agree on a useful next time to talk than keep checking in for no reason. If the process takes a while, we can reconnect when it makes sense for you.

Can I call instead of filling in the form?

Absolutely. The form is simply a quick way to send us the basics, but we are more than happy to talk with you on the phone and work through your situation in your own words. You will not get an answering machine or a “press 1 for this, 2 for that” phone maze — when you call Acclyptic, you will speak directly with a real person who can listen and help you work out the next step. No problem at all.
